The Portuguese Pão de Ló is a sponge cake. It has been around in Portuguese cuisine since at least the 1700s. Its recipe is simple, in the sense that it only has 3 ingredients: eggs, sugar, and flour. Light, creamy and fluffy Ovar sponge cake. With a soft golden brown crust and the most creamy sweet egg layer, this cake was recognized as a Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) by the European Commission and it is a certified conventual sweet with more than 200 years of history in Portugal. Ingredients: Eggs, sugar, wheat flour and salt. May contain traces of nuts, soy, milk and sulphites
