A great swimmer, the tuna is distinguished by its elongated and fusiform body. The ancient Greeks called it thynõ, “the hurried one”, because of its speed – some species of tuna can reach 70 km/h and, always moving in shoals, can cover up to 170 km in a single day. But it's not just its physiology that deserves attention: with a very efficient metabolism, tuna always maintains a high body temperature. In this way, it has surprising physical strength, capable of surviving in very cold waters and with enormous resistance.
